Dave Love LEE / JOHN MORALES / VARIOUS
Mixed To The Maxxx: Part Two

Format: gatefold 2xLP
Genre: Disco/Nu-Disco

A second selection of classic soul, funk and disco cuts "remixed to the maxxx" by two of the best in the business, original NYC rework king John Morales (whose work alongside Sergio Munzibai as M+M was extensive in the late 70s and early 80s) and Z Records founder Dave Lee. As usual, both have worked from the master tapes, choosing to rearrange and Re-EQ in the classic disco remix style. Morales' contributions include killer passes on Alicia Myers' 'I Want To Thank You' (giving it a righteous, heart-soaring extension), Stephanie Mills 'I Want To Thank You' (adding layers of excitement and re-timing it to satisfy modern dancefloors) and cuts by Barry White and Jerry Knight. Lee, meanwhile, sprinkles his magic over gems by Crown Heights Affair, First Choice (a triumphant take on 'Double Cross'), Syreta and Mystic Merlin (the sugary, horn-heavy jazz-funk brilliance of 'Just Can't Give You Up').
