45 KINGS - 45 Kings Vol 14 (7")

45 KINGS
45 Kings Vol 14

Format: 7"
Genre: Hip Hop/R&B7

Though we're not sure if there's an arch-label they answer to, the 45 Kings series - now 14 titles thick - follows a specific brief. It's simple: press a golden-era hip-hop group's biggest single on 7", then move on to the next - and no repeats. They've stocked Wu-Tang, Brand Nubian, Jeru The Damaja, Dilated Peoples and The Notorious BIG so far and now they turn the compression mould to Gang Starr, specifically two grandstanding tracks from their Moment Of Truth album, 1998. 'The Militia', a posse cut with Big Shug and Freddie Foxxx trading verses over a suitably militant DJ Premier beat, and then 'Above The Clouds', mainly boasting verses from Guru and a guesting Inspectah Deck.
