BOMFUNK MC'S - Freestyler (reissue) (12")

BOMFUNK MC'S
Freestyler (reissue)

Format: 12"
Genre: Breakbeat

Finnish supergroup Bombfunk MCs' 'Freestyler' is known mainly for its music video, especially regarded for its swagged out street kid complete with dreads and CD Walkman, all but parkouring the Helsinki underground. An unusually speedy hit for dance records at the time, it was produced by JS16 - Jaakko Salovaara - at 164bpm in E minor, and built from sampled slide guitar, rubbery synth bass and a vocal delivery owing something to the Caribbean instructional style then circulating in UK dance music. This reissue distils six of its best remixes new and old, including an intellifunk version by Missing Link, a quirky breaks version from Skillsters, and a hoover-sawing 'Surgical Spirit' version from Dirty Rotten Scoundrel.
