This 1983 landmark album by Tomoko Aran, her third overall, blends new wave and synthpop with the relatively more conventional mellow material that has since become this genre reappraisal's sample-worthy bread and butter. 'I'm In Love' and 'Midnight Pretenders' hears the singer-songwriter turned later essayist sway through polished-tiled soft rock and novel, night-funk tones; music for Nth-floor balcony trysts in midsummer. 'Ji-re-n-ma' was originally cut for the album but dropped due to groove interference at the vinyl format's limits, leaving the LP permanently incomplete until this edition.
