Three decades have now passed since The Wiseguys (crate-digging beat-makers DJ Touche and DJ Regal) first popped up on Mark Jones' legendary 90s label Wall of Sound. In the years that followed their imprint debut, Nil By Mouth, they delivered a string of infectious, sample-rich big beat anthems. This tidy 7" single brings together their two biggest hits, both of which ended up on global TV commercials. Side A sports 'Ooh La La', a killer exercise in fusing crunchy, hip-hop style breaks with infectious and memorable samples - think pitched-up rap samples, muted horns, call-and-response spoken word snippets and beefy bass. Turn over for 'Start The Commotion', a more funk-inspired piece notable for its sampled surf guitar (see also Fatboy Slim's 'Rockerfeller Skank'), Mod organ licks, and rousing horns.
