TAME IMPALA - Deadbeat (gatefold 2xLP + booklet)

TAME IMPALA
Deadbeat

Format: gatefold 2xLP + booklet
Genre: Psych/Garage Rock

Tame Impala's fifth full-length finds Kevin Parker retreating into the sound and spirit of his Western Australian roots, drawing on bush doof culture and the rave energy of the coast. Where his earlier work often dissolved psych-rock into pop splendour, these new tracks feel heavier, more physical, and built for both the club and the outback. Lead single 'End of Summer' rides a euphoric synth tide before collapsing into woozy melancholy, while 'Loser' leans into a grinding groove, Parker's falsetto caught between sardonic and strangely tender. Elsewhere, hints of trance-like repetition and rugged bass pressure suggest a record intent on welding psychedelia to rave propulsion. What keeps it distinctively his is the detail - harmonies that fracture at the edges, drums that bloom into echo, melodies that hover just out of reach. It's both a shift and a homecoming, another reinvention that still feels like the same singular voice.
