MF Inxxxwel is back on GAMM to pay tribute to the late great MF DOOM. Across two cuts, funk-laced hip-hop frames Doom's unmistakable vocal presence with loose, head-nodding ease. 'Dumile's Funk' opens up and the drums are so laid back and louche they're almost in reverse but knotted, funny bass holds them together. The bars have a soulful gravel that's offset by heavenly choral coos. It's light but driven and then 'The House Of Doom' shifts into pitched-down 90s New Jersey deep house sound - slow, purposeful but with a supple rhythmic bounce. Tasteful reinterpretations that let the vocal cadences sit naturally inside each groove.
