Jorja Smith's hitmaking intentions were made clear with Jorja Smith's collaboration with dancehall phenom Popcaan, the latter whose last major chart gracing came with the brilliant Jamie xx collab 'Good Times' . London singer Smith knew who to tap for the vibe insurance: 'Come Over' landed after her last record Lost & Found after a writing trip to Port Antonio, Jamaica, and founded itself on buoyant rhythms and easygoing melody, sounding out the nerves and guesswork of early romance; the video was created with director Amber Grace Johnson during pandemic restrictions, and leant into vivid, anime-inspired fantasy. Now on vinyl via FAMM, ‘Come Over’ followed Smith’s politically charged single ‘By Any Means’, marking another stylistic turn in a career already comfortable shifting between r&b, pop and reggae-inflected sounds.
