They might have been released decades apart, but the two tunes showcased here are both fantastic examples of genuine earworms - crossover smashes which owe much of their power to big riffs, memorable hooks and infectious grooves, Side A is all about Gala's colossal 1996 Euro-dance hit 'Freed From Desire', an extremely ubiquitous record these days given that it is frequently played at global sporting events and sung (with tweaked lyrics, of course) in countless football terrace chants. Over on side B, we get a rare vinyl outing for Peggy Gou's 2023 sing-along '(It Goes Like) Nanana', whose joyous vibe and construction references everything from Ibiza-friendly 90s trance and piano house to colossal Euro-dance smashers and sing-along synth-pop.
