DJP - Toxic Funk Vol 23 (7")

DJP
Toxic Funk Vol 23

Format: 7"
Genre: Breakbeat

There's no shortage of hip-hop classics being given the remix treatment, though Missouri's DJP's contributions to the Toxic Funk series are among the more convincing examples. 'The Nod Factor' keeps the original's devil-may-care spirit intact whilst adding tougher breaks and a little extra weight for the dancefloor. Flip it over and 'How Many Emcees (Must Get Dissed)' digs even deeper into rugged boom-bap territory with chopped funk loops, leaving just enough daylight for the bassline to wander. Two DJ-friendly reworks that know better than to mess with the source material too much.
