Archie Bell and the Drells were amongst the greatest stars in the Philadelphia International Records universe, delivering a string of Philly Soul classics that helped usher in the disco era. This excellent reissue 12" provides a rare 12-inch appearance for the song that kicked off the band's 1976 album Where Will You Go When The Party's Over, the Philly Soul perfection that is 'Don't Let Love Get You Down' - all emotive lead vocals, dreamy backing vocals, sweeping orchestration and rolling grooves. Over on side B, we're taken to the band's formative years and 1968's 'Tighten Up' - a kind of breezier and more soulful take on the James Brown funk sound. We get the full vocal 'Part 1' take and the more stripped back, groove-focused 'Part 2' mix.
