In an ambiguous territory - not quite qualifying as wonky but bumping still with Dilla-esque drama - comes Change, originally cut by Shadez of Brooklyn with Da Beatminerz, and which first circulated widely off DJ Premier's New York Reality Check 101, a taste-setting tape for the New York scene if there ever was one. Above The Clouds take it on as instrumental exercise, protecting and fortifying the original's smoked-out core; the absent vocals doesn't breed hollowness as some might charge, as Jon1st's arrangements only reflect the appreciation for craft before adornment. A respectful re-voicing indeed.
